3 stocks to buy: April 2022

3 stocks to buy in April 2022Equity prices have fallen over the recent months on fears of high inflation and a hawkish Fed. The S&P 500 index has fallen 5.83% while the high-flying Nasdaq has fallen 12.24% year-to-date. For investors with a long time horizon, the recent market selloff may present an opportunity to purchase some high-quality stocks at reasonable prices. In this article, I highlight 3 stocks worth looking into for investors looking to buy high-quality companies at a reasonable price (GARP).Stock screenerTo screen for high-quality stocks trading at reasonable prices I used the following criteria: Large Market Cap (>$10B) Located in the US Low Debt-to-Equity ratio (<0.2) Inexpensive P/FCF (<30) High operating margin (>25%) Positive sales growth in the past 5 years (>0%) From this list of 13 stocks, I narrowed my focus down to 3 companies that I believe will continue to demonstrate strong operating results. In the next section, I will be elaborating

Taiwan Semi Record Sales

Taiwan Semiconductor Reports Record Sales Source: FT$台积电(TSM)$'s revenue rose to a record in the first quarter of this year as demand for chips used in smartphones, computers and cars surged while a prolonged chip shortage helped to boost prices. Revenue jumped 36% to NT$491.1 billion ($17 billion) in the the first quarter of 2022. Analysts estimated NT$469.4 billion on average. TSM's strong revenue report highlights two key observations: Firstly, demand for semiconductor chips is still strong despite recent recessionary concerns. Semiconductors have essentially become the 'backbone of the economy as they are used in all kinds of digital appliances from smartphones to cars. These digital appliances are integral parts of our everyday lives which make them incredibly hard to forego. Therefore, despite fears that the US economy is headed towards a recession, I am still bullish on TSM as their products are incredibly sticky and in

Why you should own AMZN, GOOGL

Why now might be the time to buy AMZN and GOOGL shares?(Taken from Google Images)2022 has not been a very good year for investors as the stock market pulled back on fears of high inflation and a more hawkish Fed. Last week, the yield curve inverted for the first time since 2019 as economic and inflation data continues to disappoint. Fearing a deeper correction in the stock market, I believe that now is the time for investors to rebalance their portfolios into high-quality names. With healthy balance sheets, strong operating cash flows and a wide economic moat, I believe that the FAANG stocks offer investors hope in a period of uncertainty. More specifically, after delving into the fundamentals of Facebook (Meta), $苹果(AAPL)$$亚马逊(AMZN)$ , Netflix and $谷歌A(GOOGL)$, I posit that Amazon and Google offer

Weekly news update: 2 April 22

In the NewsEconomic data: The 2-year and 10-year Treasury yields inverted for the first time since 2019 following negative economic data. Core PCE (Price Consumption Expenditure) Price Index, an indicator that the Fed uses to measure inflation rose to 5.4% year-over-year, the highest reading in 40 years. This was followed by a US non-farm payroll rise of 431,000 which was below the median expectation of 490,000. An inversion of the yield curve is used by traders as a possible indicator of a recession which could foreshadow a sell-off in equity markets.A yield curve inversion tends to foreshadow a recessionUS oil reserves: US President Joe Biden announced on Thursday the largest-ever release of oil from the country’s emergency stocks in an attempt to cool crude prices that are feeding into high inflation across the economy. According to CNBC, the average daily amount released from global strategic reserves should exceed 1 million barrels. In an attempt to reduce its reliance o

ADBE: Poised for future growth

ADBE: Poised for secular growthSource: Google ImagesInvestment ThesisTech stocks have underperformed in 2022 as investors ditch their risk assets and rotate into more defensive positions. Even large-cap tech stocks with strong balance sheets such as $Adobe(ADBE)$ have not been spared from the sell-off, the company's shares falling over 20% from its peak. As valuation multiples contract, these tech stocks have become cheaper for investors to own. I believe that now could be the time for investors to go shopping for some of the beaten-down tech names which are in a position of secular growth as the risk of a US economic recession increases.ADBE is the global leader in digital media and digital marketing solutions. Its Digital Media Offerings include applications such as PhotoShop and Lightroom which allow creative professionals and enthusiasts to express themselves through apps and services for photography, video and more. Have oil prices peaked?

Market report 31/3/2022: Have oil prices peaked?Source: Google ImagesToday, oil prices dropped on news that US President Joe Biden is considering the release of 180 million barrels from the US's strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) following a spike in prices over the recent months. Over the past few months, oil prices soared to a high of over $130 per barrel following Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the unprecedented amount of punitive international sanctions on the world's second-largest oil exporter.Multiple news outlets reported that the plan to cool soaring crude prices will involve the release of around 1 million barrels of oil per day for several months. This comes after OPEC+'s decision to modestly increase its output targets by 432,000 barrels per day from May 1. According to analysts at Goldman Sachs, the release of US oil reserves could help to cool off oil prices in the short term but not resolve the structural supply deficit caused by the shift away from crude oil

The Best Investment Right Now

The Best Investment During a Stock Market CrashSo far, 2021 has not been a good year for stocks. Global equity indices have suffered heavy drawdowns on fears of high inflation driven by the Russia-Ukraine Crisis. During this period of extreme volatility and uncertainty, you might feel discouraged from the losses suffered in your investment portfolio. Or you might feel lost, wondering what to invest in, as stocks from all types of sectors and regions continue to be badly hit by the market selloff. However, instead of focusing on the negative aspects and volatility that come with investing, it is important to take a long-term perspective and focus on developing yourself by learning from your past mistakes. Therefore, the best investment you can make right is to invest in yourself! Amazon 20-1 Stock Split

Amazon announces 20-1 Stock Split and $10 Billion Share BuybackAMZN company logo (Surce: Newsweek)On Wednesday, Amazon ($Amazon.com(AMZN)$) announced a 20-1 stock split and a $10 billion share buyback programme which has been approved by its Board of Directors. Wall Street Analysts have been bullish on this move, with Deutsche Bank upgrading its price target to $4100, indicating a 40% upside in AMZN's stock. Stock splits are generally seen as a positive by the market. Companies are often put in a position to split their stocks only after an extended period of strong returns. Once the price of a stock or fund gets too high, even single shares may become too expensive for small, retail investors, limiting demand for the stock. In addition to ensuring access to all investors, a stock split is typically also an indication that management doesn’t see the current market value as overinflated, another bullish sign. So

10/3/22 Market Report

10/3/22 Market Report: Feb 2022 Inflation DataThe US Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to release the Feb 2022 Consumer Price Index results at 08:30 AM today. Annual inflation rate in the US likely accelerated to 7.9% in February of 2022, the highest since January of 1982 and core inflation is expected to rise to 6.4%, also the highest in 40 years. The monthly rate is seen at 0.8%, above 0.6% in January. The CPI data will likely show prices climbed across a broad array of goods and services, including hospitality services and restaurants while gasoline prices increased almost 41% from last year. Still, the biggest effects of the war in Ukraine and the consequent surge in energy costs are still to come and will worsen with the US ban on oil imports from Russia. The inflation was seen peaking in March but the recent developments in Europe coupled with the ongoing supply constraints, strong demand and labour shortages will likely maintain inflation elevated for longer.
