Apple has again snatched more of Chinese market share with 23.6 percent market share in November 2021, way ahead of other Chinese mobile phone manufacturers. This is partly possible due to its phone price revision as well as the advantage that Apple has obtained with regards to the chip supplies that it has gotten from so many suppliers.

In comparison, Xiaomi's handphone sales were not that fantastic in 3Q2021 and this was evident from the sharp fall in smartphones revenue as compared to 2Q2021. The saving grace comes from optimising from available resources that Xiaomi has to sell its smartphones, resulting in it claiming higher gross margin compared to previous quarter.

Xiaomi 12 series launched in late December 2021 may be a turning point for Xiaomi to wrestle for more market share from Apple and Samsung in the global market as well as in China. However, Vivo, Oppo, honor, etc are not going to make it easy. The good sign in December 2021 is that within 5 minutes of the launch of Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi closed in over 18 billion RMB of sales, exceeding the 15 billion RMB sales for its Xiaomi 11.

As long as Xiaomi is able to resolve its chip problems as well as maintaining higher growth trajectory for its IOT and internet services, there is a higher for Xiaomi share price to make a comeback above 19.2 and 20 HKD.

So far, it has been encountering price pressure from 19.06 and 19.2 HKD. If its 4Q2021 results are not that bad and Xiaomi senior management can better handle the analyst's call, there is a higher chance for Xiaomi shares to reverse the downtrend. But bear in mind, the current price pressure coming from US tech equities which may weigh down all tech stocks, including chinese tech as well.
