Coming week will be another week of key data like (i) China, US and Germany CPI, (ii) PPI, retail sales figures and (iv) number of FOMC’s members and BOE’s governor speaking…. It is indeed another eventful week and no one can say for sure what is going to happen. For me, I remain cautiously optimistic as of today at around 12.55 p.m. Singapore time. Am I playing with fire to remain cautiously optimistic of Nasdaq 100 and selected tech stocks? Why would I when I am not holding any long-term trading position except for my long-term investment in Tiger brokers. Yes yes, here I go again on Tiger Brokers, noting that SEC’s Chairman had spoken on potential regulations on Robinhood related trading activities. Then again, I will touch more on this topic as I go along later if time permits. Well, I do have other commitments too but writing remains my passion and so here it goes…

Committed readers of my posts and articles would have noted that I have been using the point of 13,700 for Nasdaq 100 June contract for an assessment if Nasdaq 100 has indeed seen a rebound with recent weaknesses triggered by a series of negative news initiated by hedge funds, media, our beloved warren Buffett (who I respect but disagree with some of his recent points) and Janet Yellen saying and subsequently retracting her statement calling for faster rate hike. Ignoring all these noises or intentional moves by the hedge funds, do we really want to go against these smart money? Well, with net zero trading position, I am not against them at all but what I am going to do the coming week is remain cautiously optimistic and see if Nasdaq 100 futures can close above 13,850… Yes, don’t ask me why I have used this point because its my observation and not some technical points. Comes with experience, which I hopefully think would be proven right yet knowing that I could be wrong. Lets see how it goes.

With the CPI and PPI data coming, inflation bulls will be watching these points intensively and would jump on anything to tank the Nasdaq stocks and support the Dow and reopening trade stocks. That is why I kept emphasising on selected tech stocks and Nasdaq 100. Retail sales figures in US would be key too and people are hopeful that this will be a robust figure on the upside. I don’t have a view on this and remains an observer on this.

As for my tiger brokers stock next week, I have built up a decent position in it and knowing that I don’t have the perfect information on the company’s developments since I am not an insider, i.e. not Company’s key management. Here, I will watch it but remain positively optimistic of its long-term development. Let see if 1Q2021 financial results and funded account figures and trading volume are in sync with my forecasts. It is slated to be out on 28 May 2021 if I did not recall wrongly.

Futu, which is Tiger Brokers’ competitor is 8 times bigger in market capitalisation and much more profitable than Tiger as it was founded way ahead of Tiger by around 7 years if I did not recall wrongly. This explained for its size and giving time and positive industry developments, I think Tiger has good long term potential. Well like what I have mentioned in my recent article, I wouldn’t go all in even for super high conviction stocks. But this is my personal preference in risk rewards, especially in risk appetite.
