Andy Jassy, who previously led the company's fast-growing cloud computing business, would take the reins, Amazon said.
\n
With Bezos' class act to live up to, the pressure is on. Investors will get to see how well the company performed under Jassy's leadership during his first inaugural quarter as the company's CEO next week when the e-commerce giant reports third-quarter results.
\n
Ahead of Amazon's important third-quarter update, here's a preview of the earnings report, as well as a look at whether the growth stock may be attractive going into the update.
\n
Amazon earnings: what to watch
\n
When the e-commerceand cloud-computing specialist reports earnings next Thursday, investors will be watching closely to see how well Amazon can measure up to a tough year-ago comparison, when revenue was surging as many consumers around the world were sheltering at home.
\n
In Amazon's second-quarter earnings release, management guided for third-quarter revenue to be between $106 billion and $112 billion. This translates to a revenue growth rate of 10% to 16% -- a significant slowdown from 27% growth in the prior quarter and 37% growth in the year-ago quarter.
\n
Analysts seem largely convinced that the midpoint of Amazon's guidance range was too conservative. On average, analysts are forecasting third-quarter revenue to be at the high end of the company's guidance range.
\n
Is Amazon stock a buy today?
\n
While the company's reported revenue growth rate will certainly be worth checking on, a bigger question likely on many investors' minds is whether the stock is a good buy today.
\n
While it's impossible to know where shares of the e-commerce giant will move in the near term or even after the company's third-quarter earnings report is released, investors can take a look at Amazon stock's valuation to see if it seems attractive relative to the e-commerce giant's long-term potential.
\n
Despite the company's staggering market capitalization of more than $1.7 trillion, a case can be made for shares looking like a good buy at this level. Consider that Amazon's price-to-earnings ratio of about 60 is actually quite cheap given the company's top-line performance and its steadily expanding operating margin.
\n
With strong revenue growth and a widening operating margin, Amazon's business model is demonstrating significant operating leverage. Andy Jassy, who previously led the company's fast-growing cloud computing business, would take the reins, Amazon said.\nWith Bezos' class act to live up to, the pressure is on. Investors will get to see how well the company performed under Jassy's leadership during his first inaugural quarter as the company's CEO next week when the e-commerce giant reports third-quarter results.\nAhead of Amazon's important third-quarter update, here's a preview of the earnings report, as well as a look at whether the growth stock may be attractive going into the update.\nAmazon earnings: what to watch\nWhen the e-commerceand cloud-computing specialist reports earnings next Thursday, investors will be watching closely to see how well Amazon can measure up to a tough year-ago comparison, when revenue was surging as many consumers around the world were sheltering at home.\nIn Amazon's second-quarter earnings release, management guided for third-quarter revenue to be between $106 billion and $112 billion. This translates to a revenue growth rate of 10% to 16% -- a significant slowdown from 27% growth in the prior quarter and 37% growth in the year-ago quarter.\nAnalysts seem largely convinced that the midpoint of Amazon's guidance range was too conservative. On average, analysts are forecasting third-quarter revenue to be at the high end of the company's guidance range.\nIs Amazon stock a buy today?\nWhile the company's reported revenue growth rate will certainly be worth checking on, a bigger question likely on many investors' minds is whether the stock is a good buy today.\nWhile it's impossible to know where shares of the e-commerce giant will move in the near term or even after the company's third-quarter earnings report is released, investors can take a look at Amazon stock's valuation to see if it seems attractive relative to the e-commerce giant's long-term potential.\nDespite the company's staggering market capitalization of more than $1.7 trillion, a case can be made for shares looking like a good buy at this level. Consider that Amazon's price-to-earnings ratio of about 60 is actually quite cheap given the company's top-line performance and its steadily expanding operating margin.\nWith strong revenue growth and a widening operating margin, Amazon's business model is demonstrating significant operating leverage. This means earnings per share could grow faster than revenue over the long haul. In fact, analysts expect exactly that. The consensus analyst forecast currently calls for Amazon's earnings per share to increase at an average annualized rate of 37% over the next five years.\nGiven management's guidance for robust double-digit third-quarter revenue growth -- even as Amazon faces a tough year-ago comparison -- and the company's clear operating leverage, Amazon shares look like a good long-term buy today.\nOf course, investors should watch Amazon's revenue growth rate closely. If it decelerates faster than expected, this could mean analysts (and investors) are overestimating the company's long-term potential.\nAmazon's third-quarter report is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28, after market close.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":244,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":853287026,"gmtCreate":1634815128260,"gmtModify":1634815128648,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Starbucks(SBUX)$cmon let's go ","listText":"$Starbucks(SBUX)$cmon let's go ","text":"$Starbucks(SBUX)$cmon let's go","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9f4e9317d191774dd8546a3fb9508bb8","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/853287026","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":429,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":853284506,"gmtCreate":1634815064372,"gmtModify":1634815064729,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SINGTEL(Z74.SI)$uppp more? stock has fallen victim of its own success: shares of the e-commerce giant have lagged the S&","content":"
Amazon stock has fallen victim of its own success: shares of the e-commerce giant have lagged the S&P 500 since its disappointing Q2 earnings day. But JPMorgan is optimistic and sees upside ahead.
\n
Since the release of Amazon’s most recent earnings report, investors have watched shares of the cloud and e-commerce giant tank by 11%. Amazon stock underperformed an already weak S&P 500 by three percentage points over the period, leaving some to question: is AMZN still a good investment?
\n
According to experts at JPMorgan (JPM), the answer is yes. Today, the Amazon Maven presents the main reasons why five-star rated analyst Doug Anmuth believes that Amazon stock is about to surge, producing an estimated 29% in gains through 2022.
\n
Figure 1: J.P. Morgan offices in Hong Kong.
\n
Getting back on track
\n
As the Amazon Maven mentioned recently, the impact of the pandemic on shopping habits led analysts to overestimate Amazon’s revenues for the current year. This is the very first reason why JPMorgan believes that AMZN will get a green light to climb again: “[the stock is heading] closer to the last quarter of difficult COVID-19 comps in the first quarter of 2022\", which should help to reset sentiment.
\n
Once 2020 results are left in the rearview mirror, the e-commerce company will face more realistic, non-pandemic-inflated projections. As mentioned by Mr. Anmuth himself, \"further downward revisions to 2022 profit estimates would help lower the bar and potentially create more of a clearing event”.
\n
Holiday upside
\n
Another reason why Mr. Anmuth believes Amazon stock will head higher is the beginning of the holiday season. Since the market has been so cautious towards AMZN lately, the stock has been trading at lower multiples than would otherwise be considered reasonable. The holidays, on the other hand, could be the bullish catalyst that investors need to own the stock again.
\n
Lastly, there is the potential for an increase in Prime subscription price in 2022. Considering an estimated 150 million US Prime members in 2021, a $20 dollar hike in annual fee would lead to an extra $3 billion heading towards Amazon’s coffers.
\n
At first glance, the figure may not seem like much, given Amazon’s revenues of $380 billion in 2020. However, keep in mind that nearly all the price increase would flow cleanly into Amazon’s operating income. On a 2020 basis, this would represent growth of nearly 15% in pre-tax profits.
\n
What do other experts say?
\n
Other reports published recently also support the bullish thesis. Mark Mahaney from Evercore ISI talked to 15 industry experts, including former Amazon employees, during the research firm’s Amazon Day Symposium. But JPMorgan is optimistic and sees upside ahead.\nSince the release of Amazon’s most recent earnings report, investors have watched shares of the cloud and e-commerce giant tank by 11%. Amazon stock underperformed an already weak S&P 500 by three percentage points over the period, leaving some to question: is AMZN still a good investment?\nAccording to experts at JPMorgan (JPM), the answer is yes. Today, the Amazon Maven presents the main reasons why five-star rated analyst Doug Anmuth believes that Amazon stock is about to surge, producing an estimated 29% in gains through 2022.\nFigure 1: J.P. Morgan offices in Hong Kong.\nGetting back on track\nAs the Amazon Maven mentioned recently, the impact of the pandemic on shopping habits led analysts to overestimate Amazon’s revenues for the current year. This is the very first reason why JPMorgan believes that AMZN will get a green light to climb again: “[the stock is heading] closer to the last quarter of difficult COVID-19 comps in the first quarter of 2022\", which should help to reset sentiment.\nOnce 2020 results are left in the rearview mirror, the e-commerce company will face more realistic, non-pandemic-inflated projections. As mentioned by Mr. Anmuth himself, \"further downward revisions to 2022 profit estimates would help lower the bar and potentially create more of a clearing event”.\nHoliday upside\nAnother reason why Mr. Anmuth believes Amazon stock will head higher is the beginning of the holiday season. Since the market has been so cautious towards AMZN lately, the stock has been trading at lower multiples than would otherwise be considered reasonable. The holidays, on the other hand, could be the bullish catalyst that investors need to own the stock again.\nLastly, there is the potential for an increase in Prime subscription price in 2022. Considering an estimated 150 million US Prime members in 2021, a $20 dollar hike in annual fee would lead to an extra $3 billion heading towards Amazon’s coffers.\nAt first glance, the figure may not seem like much, given Amazon’s revenues of $380 billion in 2020. However, keep in mind that nearly all the price increase would flow cleanly into Amazon’s operating income. On a 2020 basis, this would represent growth of nearly 15% in pre-tax profits.\nWhat do other experts say?\nOther reports published recently also support the bullish thesis. Mark Mahaney from Evercore ISI talked to 15 industry experts, including former Amazon employees, during the research firm’s Amazon Day Symposium. The analyst liked what he saw and issued a hefty $4,700 target price.\nWolfe Research’s Deepak Mathivanan, on the other hand, lowered his price target on AMZN modestly to $3,850 from $3,900, despite maintaining an outperform rating. Sitting closer to the consensus price target is Goldman Sachs’ Eric Sheridan, who is bullish and believes that AMZN shares are worth $4,250.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":124,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":827975548,"gmtCreate":1634399275254,"gmtModify":1634399275629,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a Amazon stock underperformed an already weak S&P 500 by three percentage points over the period, leaving some to question: is AMZN still a good investment?
Several earnings results from major consumer brands are also on tap, and OPEC+.
\n
All eyes are focused on the meeting of OPEC+( the group of oil producers)to be held on October 4.The group had been widely expected to keep current plans to raise overall production by 400,000 barrels a day each month in place. On last Thursday, Reuters reported that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia, known as OPEC+, is weighing additional production increases, \"beyond its existing deal to boost production by 400,000 barrels per day,\" as prices for crude trade near year three-year highs.
\n
Traders are looking to see payroll gains accelerate in Septembe after a shockingly disappointing August jobs report, when just 235,000 jobs came back versus the more than 700,000 expected. Consensus economists anticipate that 475,000 payrolls returned in September, and that the unemployment rate fell to 5.1%, or the lowest since March 2020.
\n
\"There is more hope for the labor market. The next few months will be important and we could see greater labor market participation as fear of the virus abates,\" Bank of America U.S. economist Michelle Meyer wrote in a note on Friday.
\n
Meyer also flagged recent comments from Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard, who addressed some of the ongoing labor scarcities and issues in bringing individuals back into the workforce.
\n
\"The decline in labor force participation appears to reflect COVID-related constraints that have been prolonged by Delta rather than permanent structural changes in the economy,\" Brainard said in public remarks in Arlington, Va., last week.
\n
But these virus-related risks still remain a point of concern for the labor market's recovery, and for the September jobs report in particular. And the U.S. economy has still lost a net total of over 5 million payrolls since March 2020, underscoring the deficit still left to recoup on employment.
\n
\"To the downside, we see risk of public payrolls contracting modestly in September as education payrolls could recede modestly due to school closures amid the Delta wave and negative payback from strong hiring over the summer,\" Meyer said. \"Consequently, we think private payrolls growth will be marginally stronger than non-farm payrolls growth. All told, the data flow suggests another soft month of employment activity but a slightly faster pace of job gains compared to August.\"
\n
Importantly, the September jobs report will be a key factor in informing the Federal Reserve's timing on formally announcing and beginning tapering of its pandemic-era asset purchase program. The central bank signaled last month that it believed the economy was on its way to being able to stand on its own without the extraordinary levels of monetary policy support seen over the course of the year and a half.
\n
And indeed, Fed officials have said the economy has already met the central bank's targeted threshold for inflation, and that only more progress on the labor market's recovery was needed to be enough to trigger the start of tapering.
\n
\"It wouldn't take a knockout, great, super strong employment report,\" Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell saidduring his latest post-FOMC meeting press conference in September. \"It would take a reasonably good employment report for me to feel like that test is met.\"
\n
Consumer names to report earnings
\n
A number of companies are set to report quarterly results throughout the week, offering a first look at how corporate profits have held up in the third-quarter before a bigger wave of firms report results in the coming weeks.
\n
The names reporting this week will center on major consumer brands including PepsiCo (PEP), Constellation Brands (STZ) and Levi Strauss (LEVI). One of the key themes from these reports and earnings calls will be on commentary around inflation, labor and supply chain challenges, given rising prices and materials shortages already seen across various pockets of the economy.
\n
Results last week from companies including Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), for instance, already served as a harbinger of the myriad supply-side issues facing the retail industry. The company posted an unexpected drop in same-store sales for its quarter ending in late August, whereas Wall Street had projected same-store sales growth. The drop came both as a result of consumer skittishness over shopping in-person during the Delta variant's spread, and as supply pressures weighed on growth.
\n
When asked during the company earnings call whether these challenges might abate over the balance of the year, Bed Bath & Beyond CEO Mark Tritton said the company was \"not expecting supply chain pressures to ease.\"
\n
\"We operated under unprecedented supply chain conditions that have continued to increasingly tighten global trade since last year,\" Tritton said.
\n
Companies in other industries have highlighted similar concerns. Micron (MU), the biggest domestic memory chipmaker, said in a letter to customers that it was still experiencing cost increases for materials and services and did \"not expect that pressure to ease in the foreseeable future,\" according to a report from Bloomberg last week. And earlier in September, FedEx (FDX) posted a sharp miss on quarterly profits as supply chain pressures and rising labor costs pressured margins for the shipping giant.
\n
Economic calendar
\n
\n

Monday:Factory orders, August (1.0% expected, 0.4% in July); Several earnings results from major consumer brands are also on tap, and OPEC+.\nAll eyes are focused on the meeting of OPEC+( the group of oil producers)to be held on October 4.The group had been widely expected to keep current plans to raise overall production by 400,000 barrels a day each month in place. On last Thursday, Reuters reported that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia, known as OPEC+, is weighing additional production increases, \"beyond its existing deal to boost production by 400,000 barrels per day,\" as prices for crude trade near year three-year highs.\nTraders are looking to see payroll gains accelerate in Septembe after a shockingly disappointing August jobs report, when just 235,000 jobs came back versus the more than 700,000 expected. Consensus economists anticipate that 475,000 payrolls returned in September, and that the unemployment rate fell to 5.1%, or the lowest since March 2020.\n\"There is more hope for the labor market. The next few months will be important and we could see greater labor market participation as fear of the virus abates,\" Bank of America U.S. economist Michelle Meyer wrote in a note on Friday.\nMeyer also flagged recent comments from Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard, who addressed some of the ongoing labor scarcities and issues in bringing individuals back into the workforce.\n\"The decline in labor force participation appears to reflect COVID-related constraints that have been prolonged by Delta rather than permanent structural changes in the economy,\" Brainard said in public remarks in Arlington, Va., last week.\nBut these virus-related risks still remain a point of concern for the labor market's recovery, and for the September jobs report in particular. And the U.S. economy has still lost a net total of over 5 million payrolls since March 2020, underscoring the deficit still left to recoup on employment.\n\"To the downside, we see risk of public payrolls contracting modestly in September as education payrolls could recede modestly due to school closures amid the Delta wave and negative payback from strong hiring over the summer,\" Meyer said. \"Consequently, we think private payrolls growth will be marginally stronger than non-farm payrolls growth. All told, the data flow suggests another soft month of employment activity but a slightly faster pace of job gains compared to August.\"\nImportantly, the September jobs report will be a key factor in informing the Federal Reserve's timing on formally announcing and beginning tapering of its pandemic-era asset purchase program. The central bank signaled last month that it believed the economy was on its way to being able to stand on its own without the extraordinary levels of monetary policy support seen over the course of the year and a half.\nAnd indeed, Fed officials have said the economy has already met the central bank's targeted threshold for inflation, and that only more progress on the labor market's recovery was needed to be enough to trigger the start of tapering.\n\"It wouldn't take a knockout, great, super strong employment report,\" Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell saidduring his latest post-FOMC meeting press conference in September. \"It would take a reasonably good employment report for me to feel like that test is met.\"\nConsumer names to report earnings\nA number of companies are set to report quarterly results throughout the week, offering a first look at how corporate profits have held up in the third-quarter before a bigger wave of firms report results in the coming weeks.\nThe names reporting this week will center on major consumer brands including PepsiCo (PEP), Constellation Brands (STZ) and Levi Strauss (LEVI). One of the key themes from these reports and earnings calls will be on commentary around inflation, labor and supply chain challenges, given rising prices and materials shortages already seen across various pockets of the economy.\nResults last week from companies including Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), for instance, already served as a harbinger of the myriad supply-side issues facing the retail industry. The company posted an unexpected drop in same-store sales for its quarter ending in late August, whereas Wall Street had projected same-store sales growth. The drop came both as a result of consumer skittishness over shopping in-person during the Delta variant's spread, and as supply pressures weighed on growth.\nWhen asked during the company earnings call whether these challenges might abate over the balance of the year, Bed Bath & Beyond CEO Mark Tritton said the company was \"not expecting supply chain pressures to ease.\"\n\"We operated under unprecedented supply chain conditions that have continued to increasingly tighten global trade since last year,\" Tritton said.\nCompanies in other industries have highlighted similar concerns. Micron (MU), the biggest domestic memory chipmaker, said in a letter to customers that it was still experiencing cost increases for materials and services and did \"not expect that pressure to ease in the foreseeable future,\" according to a report from Bloomberg last week. And earlier in September, FedEx (FDX) posted a sharp miss on quarterly profits as supply chain pressures and rising labor costs pressured margins for the shipping giant.\nEconomic calendar\n\nMonday:Factory orders, August (1.0% expected, 0.4% in July); Durable goods orders, August final (1.8% in prior print); Durable goods orders, excluding transportation, August final (0.2% in prior print); Non-defense capital goods orders, excluding aircraft, August final (0.5% in prior print); Non-defense capital goods orders, excluding aircraft, August final (0.7% in prior print)\nTuesday:Trade balance, August (-$70.5 billion expected, -$70.1 billion in July); Markit U.S. services PMI, September final (54.4 expected, 54.4 in prior print); Markit U.S. composite PMI, September final (54.5 in prior print); ISM Services index, September (60.0 expected, 61.7 in August)\nWednesday:MBA Mortgage Applications, week ended October 1 (-1.1% during prior week); ADP Employment Change, September (450,000 expected, 374,000 in August)\nThursday:Challenger Job Cuts, year-over-year, September (-86.4% in August); Initial jobless claims, week ended October 2 (349,000 expected, 362,000 during prior week); Continuing claims, week ended September 25 (2.802 million during prior week); Consumer credit, August ($18.000 billion expected, $17.004 billion in July)\nFriday:Change in non-farm payrolls, September (488,000 expected, 235,000 in August); Unemployment rate, September (5.1% expected, 5.2% in August); Average hourly earnings, month-over-month, September (0.4% expected, 0.6% in August); Average hourly earnings, year-over-year, September (4.6% expected, 4.3% in August); Labor force participation rate, September (61.7% in August); Wholesale inventories, month-over-month, August final (1.2% expected, 1.2% in prior estimate)\n\nEarnings calendar\n\nMonday:No notable reports scheduled for release\nTuesday:PepsiCo (PEP) before market open\nWednesday:Constellation Brands (STZ) before market open; Levi Strauss (LEVI) after market close\nThursday:Conagra Brands (CAG), Tilray (TLRY) before market open\nFriday:No notable reports scheduled for release","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":8,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":868977066,"gmtCreate":1632584598555,"gmtModify":1632654902523,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍🏻","listText":"👍🏻","text":"👍🏻","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/868977066","repostId":"1155969586","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1155969586","pubTimestamp":1632529960,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1155969586?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-25 08:32","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Costco is limiting how much toilet paper you can buy again","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1155969586","media":"CNN","summary":"New York (CNN Business)Costco is once again placing limits on purchases of toilet paper, paper towel","content":"
New York (CNN Business)Costco is once again placing limits on purchases of toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning supplies.
\n
The Delta variant continues to spread across the globe, sending demand for those items higher. The Disney Genie service will be introduced to Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California this fall.
\n
As part of the change, a new, paid program is set to replace the free FastPass program at the theme parks.
\n
FastPass was first introduced in 1999, and it essentially allowed visitors to Walt Disney World and Disneyland to skip the stand-by lines at popular attractions for free. In reality, FastPass was a virtual queue system: Guests would get a ticket they could use at a reserved time to bypass the regular stand-by line, but essentially they were waiting in a virtual line.
\n
Now to take advantage of those same perks, Disney theme park visitors will have to pay as much as $80 per day for a family of four.
\n
\"While the FASTPASS, FastPass+ and Disney MaxPass services will be retired, we're incredible excited about the flexibility and choices Disney Genie service provides,\" the company said in a blog post announcing the changes.
\n
Here's what Disney theme park travelers need to know:
\n
Say hello to Genie+ and Lightning Lanes
\n
There will be an optional, paid add-on to the standard Disney Genie service, called Genie+, that will enable Disney theme park visitors to skip the stand-by lines at popular attractions. At Disney World, the service will cost $15 per day per person, while at Disneyland it will cost $20 per day per person.
\n
There will be more than 40 attractions available for Genie+ bookings at Walt Disney World, and more than 15 attractions at Disneyland. The list of attractions has not yet been released, but Disney said it will be similar to what was previously available through the old FastPass system.
\n
The FastPass lines at popular attractions will be known as Lightning Lanes. To skip the line, guests will need to reserve a time using the Disney Genie mobile app. They will be able to start making reservations beginning at 7 a.m. the day of their visit to a Walt Disney World park or when the parks open at Disneyland.
\n
Guests will be allowed to have one Genie+ reservation at a time -- once a reservation is used, they will be able to make another. Visitors who visit more than one Disney park in a day will be able to use Genie+ at any park they visit.
\n
The Genie+ program will come with some perks. At Disneyland, guests who purchase Genie+ will also get complimentary downloads of pictures taken through PhotoPass, such as photos taken on rides. At Walt Disney World, Genie+ purchasers will be able to try out augmented reality technology on their phones. The service also comes with complimentary audio experiences at both the California and Florida resorts.
\n
Skipping the line on some rides is going to cost people extra -- even if they purchase Genie+
\n
The most popular attractions at Disney theme parks won't be part of Genie+. To skip the lines for these, visitors will need to pay separately, though Disney has not yet said how much the perk will cost.
\n
This will be the case for up to two attractions at each park. Disney has not yet released a full list of which attractions this will be the case for, but examples they cited include the upcoming Remy's Ratatouille adventure at Epcot, Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland.
\n
These reservations will be able to be booked starting at 7 a.m. for visitors staying at Walt Disney World hotels. Other visitors at Walt Disney World, and everyone visiting Disneyland, will otherwise be able to make to reservations when the parks open each day.
\n
As with the rides on Genie+, traditional stand-by lines (or virtual queues) will be available for guests who don't wish to pay for the upgrade. Guests can also purchase Lightning Lane access for these rides and forego Genie+ if they so choose.
\n
Some travel experts believe that the added cost of these perks, which were essentially free in the past, could upset some guests, including annual passholders. The cost of Genie+ is comparable to the cost of MaxPass, a paid FastPass program that was introduced at Disneyland Resort in recent years.
\n
\"If you're already paying $150 a day to get into the park, to tell somebody that you've got to pay another $100 for your family to get on the best rides in the park -- that's going to be a hard message to sell,\" said Len Testa, president of travel website Touring Plans.
\n
The calculus for families could come down to the value of paying for the ability to skip lines -- and that will depend on ride capacity. People with Genie+ reservations will have priority over people in the regular stand-by line. If Disney chooses to allow up to 70% of a ride's capacity to be set aside for Genie+, that could make it a better value, since that would means longer stand-by lines.
The 10-year Treasury yield increased on economic optimism and inflation fears, briefly topping 1.5% on Monday. That’s the highest since June and up from 1.30% at the end of August.
\n
“We believe that these [bond market] moves have provided the spark for another ‘Value Rip’ across equity markets. In our view, the direction of longer-term interest rates should remain the #1 driver of market returns, sector rotation & thematic performance in the weeks ahead,” Chris Senyek of Wolfe Research said in a note to clients.
\n
Also weighing on sentiment was a potential government shutdown to end the week.
\n
Stocks linked to the economic comeback led the premarket gains as U.S. Covid cases continued to roll over. There were 114,000 new cases, on average, the last 7 days through Friday, down from a 7-day average of about 160,000 cases at the peak of this latest wave in early September, according to the CDC.
\n
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said on Sunday that he thought the U.S. could return to normal “within a year” though annual vaccinations might be needed.
\n
Additionally, the August reading for durable goods orders came in well above expectations on Monday, powered in large part by a jump for the transport sector.
\n
Carnival Corp rose nearly 3% and United Airlines added 1.7% in early trading. Shares of Goldman Sachs rose 2% as higher rates appeared to boost bank stocks.
\n
Exxon Mobil and Occidental Petroleum led gains in the energy sector as WTI crude continued its September run, topping $74 a barrel.
\n
Government shutdown?
\n
Investors are monitoring the progress in Washington as lawmakers try to prevent a government shutdown, a default on U.S. debt and the possible collapse of President Joe Biden’s sweeping economic agenda.
\n
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that she expects the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill to pass this week, but voting on the legislation may be pushed back from its original Monday timeline.
\n
Congress must pass a new budget by the end of September to avoid a shutdown, and lawmakers must also figure out a way to increase or suspend the debt ceiling in October before the U.S. would default on its debt for the first time.
\n
“DC will start garnering more attention in the coming weeks as the political calculus around passing infrastructure bills and the debt ceiling debate likely guarantees some market moving headlines,” wrote Tavis McCourt, institutional equity strategist at Raymond James.
\n
The blue-chip Dow finished the week 0.6% higher, breaking a three-week losing streak. The S&P 500 rose 0.5% on the week, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.02% last week.
\n
“The market recovery indicated that the buy-the-dip mentality remains,” Mark Hackett, chief of investment research at Nationwide, said in a note.
\n
So far, September is living up to its reputation for volatility and weakness as major averages have all registered modest losses. The S&P 500 is off by 1.5%, on track to post its first negative month since January. The broad equity benchmark is about 2% off its record high from Sept. 2. The Dow is down 1.6% for the month, while the Nasdaq is down 1.4%.
\n
But overall, investors continue to buy the dip for stocks. The S&P 500 fell as much as 4% from its record during the month before turning around. Friday was 224 trading days since the last 5% pullback, the 8th longest streak since 1930, according to Goldman Sachs.
\n
“We continue to exercise caution in the near term, especially as we enter the seasonally weakest part of the year (late September — mid-October),” Larry Adam, CIO at Raymond James, said in a note. “However, given continued robust economic growth, our bias is to hold existing equity exposure or add opportunistically on weakness.”
\n
Elsewhere, bitcoin rebounded about 2% to $43,454 after dropping 5% on Friday. The sell-off came after China’s central bank declared all cryptocurrency-related activities illegal.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Stocks fall to start the week as rising yields hit tech stocks
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nStocks fall to start the week as rising yields hit tech stocks\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Tiger Newspress
\n
2021-09-27 21:32
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
The S&P 500 was under pressure on Monday as traders braced for the final week of a volatile Septe
\n
The broad market index fell by 0.2% and the Nasdaq Composite shed 0.6% as tech stocks showed weakness in premarket trading. Consumers spent $120 billion on electric car purchases in 2020, up 50% from 2019.
\n
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
\n
With at least 18 of the 20 largest automakers in the world increasing investments in electric cars, the electric vehicle industry has exponential growth potential. Ford Motor Company, for example, recently scaled up its electrification spending budget through 2025 to $30 billion, up from $22.5 billion it outlined earlier this year. Hyundai Motor recently said it plans to go all-electric in its commercial vehicles as early as 2028.
\n
If you haven't dipped your fingers in EV stocks, you're not too late. Among the many players out there that are only growing in number by the day, here are three electric-vehicle stocks to buy and hold for at least the next decade.
\n
The smartest way to bet on the world's largest electric vehicle market
\n
By launching an electric version of its hot-selling F-150 pickup, which already seeing strong buyer interest, Ford has upped its electric game in the U.S. like none other.
\n
Yet the U.S. isn't the fastest-growing EV market yet, so if you want to exploit global electric vehicle opportunities, look no further than Nio (NYSE:NIO), dubbed the \"Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) of China.\"
\n

\n
\n
China is the world's largest electric vehicle market in every way: As per data from the IEA, China's fleet of 4.5 million electric cars in 2020 was the largest in the world, it had the highest number of models available and the strongest charging infrastructure, and also dominated the commercial electric vehicle market.
\n
And Nio is going full throttle to become the market leader in China: In April, it corned 23% of China's all-electric SUV market, beating Tesla's 17% market share despite Tesla's Model Y grossing the highest sales in terms of units. Two among three of Nio's models, the ES6 and the EC6 came in second and third, respectively.
\n
Nio isn't resting on its laurels and wants to give Tesla a run for its money by targeting the masses -- it will launch models under a new mass-market brand next year to compete with more affordable EVs lined up by Volkswagen's Audi and Toyota's Lexus. It's a big growth leap and could catapult Nio to new heights if can exploit its brand loyalty. Nio's branding efforts go beyond cars -- Nio owners can buy branded products and even experience company-owned coffee houses and co-working spaces.
\n
Most importantly, Nio's battery-as-a-service subscription is a solid competitive advantage as it gives buyers the option to buy cars without batteries for substantially lower costs and instead rent and swap batteries as and when required.
\n
With Nio's orders hitting a record high in August and deliveries of its fourth model -- the mid-size sedan ET7 -- to start by early 2022, this is one of the best Chinese electric vehicle stocks you could buy right now.
\n
This EV battery beast is also a Dividend Aristocrat
\n
Whether it's Ford, Nio or any other EV manufacturer, they all require lithium-ion batteries to power their cars. Albemarle (NYSE:ALB) is one of the world's largest lithium mining companies, and was in fact the world's largest supplier of battery-grade lithium for electric vehicles in 2020.
\n
Albemarle recognized the EV market's potential early in the game when it acquired lithium giant Rockwood Holdings in 2015. In 2019, Albemarle struck a joint venture with Australia-based company Mineral Resources and acquired a 60% stake in its Wodgina mine. Wodgina has the world's largest hard rock lithium deposits.
\n
Not surprisingly, Albemarle is growing exponentially. It expects net sales to nearly double by 2026 from expected 2021 levels of $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion, and foresees adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margins of 43% to 47% by 2026. Consumers spent $120 billion on electric car purchases in 2020, up 50% from 2019.\nThis is just the tip of the iceberg.\nWith at least 18 of the 20 largest automakers in the world increasing investments in electric cars, the electric vehicle industry has exponential growth potential. Ford Motor Company, for example, recently scaled up its electrification spending budget through 2025 to $30 billion, up from $22.5 billion it outlined earlier this year. Hyundai Motor recently said it plans to go all-electric in its commercial vehicles as early as 2028.\nIf you haven't dipped your fingers in EV stocks, you're not too late. Among the many players out there that are only growing in number by the day, here are three electric-vehicle stocks to buy and hold for at least the next decade.\nThe smartest way to bet on the world's largest electric vehicle market\nBy launching an electric version of its hot-selling F-150 pickup, which already seeing strong buyer interest, Ford has upped its electric game in the U.S. like none other.\nYet the U.S. isn't the fastest-growing EV market yet, so if you want to exploit global electric vehicle opportunities, look no further than Nio (NYSE:NIO), dubbed the \"Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) of China.\"\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nChina is the world's largest electric vehicle market in every way: As per data from the IEA, China's fleet of 4.5 million electric cars in 2020 was the largest in the world, it had the highest number of models available and the strongest charging infrastructure, and also dominated the commercial electric vehicle market.\nAnd Nio is going full throttle to become the market leader in China: In April, it corned 23% of China's all-electric SUV market, beating Tesla's 17% market share despite Tesla's Model Y grossing the highest sales in terms of units. Two among three of Nio's models, the ES6 and the EC6 came in second and third, respectively.\nNio isn't resting on its laurels and wants to give Tesla a run for its money by targeting the masses -- it will launch models under a new mass-market brand next year to compete with more affordable EVs lined up by Volkswagen's Audi and Toyota's Lexus. It's a big growth leap and could catapult Nio to new heights if can exploit its brand loyalty. Nio's branding efforts go beyond cars -- Nio owners can buy branded products and even experience company-owned coffee houses and co-working spaces.\nMost importantly, Nio's battery-as-a-service subscription is a solid competitive advantage as it gives buyers the option to buy cars without batteries for substantially lower costs and instead rent and swap batteries as and when required.\nWith Nio's orders hitting a record high in August and deliveries of its fourth model -- the mid-size sedan ET7 -- to start by early 2022, this is one of the best Chinese electric vehicle stocks you could buy right now.\nThis EV battery beast is also a Dividend Aristocrat\nWhether it's Ford, Nio or any other EV manufacturer, they all require lithium-ion batteries to power their cars. Albemarle (NYSE:ALB) is one of the world's largest lithium mining companies, and was in fact the world's largest supplier of battery-grade lithium for electric vehicles in 2020.\nAlbemarle recognized the EV market's potential early in the game when it acquired lithium giant Rockwood Holdings in 2015. In 2019, Albemarle struck a joint venture with Australia-based company Mineral Resources and acquired a 60% stake in its Wodgina mine. Wodgina has the world's largest hard rock lithium deposits.\nNot surprisingly, Albemarle is growing exponentially. It expects net sales to nearly double by 2026 from expected 2021 levels of $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion, and foresees adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margins of 43% to 47% by 2026. This same company was projecting 2025 EBITDA margin of 32% to 34% in 2019.\nAlbemarle is also expanding aggressively outside the U.S. and targeting 40% to 45% revenue from China and 30% to 35% from rest of Asia by 2026. For perspective, China is expected to bring in just about 25% of its revenue in 2021.\nThose are some eye-popping growth numbers, and when you also consider that Albemarle is a rare EV Dividend Aristocrat with a 27-year streak of consecutive dividend increases, you know you have found a long-term winning stock.\nThis new EV stock on the block is addressing the biggest EV problem\nAs exciting as the future of electric cars sounds, their advent comes at a huge environmental cost: Lithium-ion batteries have a limited lifespan and therefore have to be replaced, giving rise to a global challenge. Enter Li-Cycle Holdings (NYSE:LICY), North America's largest battery recycler, founded in 2016.\nLi-Cycle operates a two-stage Spoke-and-Hub recycling model: It breaks down batteries at spokes and recovers lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese from them at Hubs to send the recovered material back to battery producers. Here's where the company stands now in terms of operations:\n\nIt commissioned its first Spoke facility in Ontario in 2017.\nIt opened a second one in Rochester, New York, in 2020.\nIts third Spoke facility in Arizona is expected to start early next year. It'll have an annual recycling capacity of 10,000 tons of lithium-ion batteries, double the capacity at each of its other two Spokes.\nIts first revenue-generating Hub in Rochester should be operational by 2023.\n\nDemand is so high that Li-Cycle has already planned a fourth Spoke in Alabama. By 2025, it expects to process 100,000 tons per year at Spokes and 220,000 tons to 240,000 tons per year at its Hub.\nIn the last quarter, Li-Cycle onboarded 14 new battery-supply customers, taking its total customer count to 70. Its revenue shot up 840% year over year to $1.7 million.\nRemember though, Li-Cycle is an early-stage, loss-making company that's already commanding a market capitalization of $1.8 billion. Yet that's how growth stocks behave, and if its growing customer and asset base is anything to go by, Li-Cycle could be a multibagger EV stock in the making for those who get in early.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":9,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":853066244,"gmtCreate":1634742929966,"gmtModify":1634742930360,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Starbucks(SBUX)$ leggo 220","listText":"$Starbucks(SBUX)$ leggo 220","text":"$Starbucks(SBUX)$ leggo 220","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f91c54fc642db1757146a61e263541ef","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/853066244","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":247,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":850862517,"gmtCreate":1634572246584,"gmtModify":1634572247245,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SINGTEL(Z74.SI)$hmmm","listText":"$SINGTEL(Z74.SI)$hmmm","text":"$SINGTEL(Z74.SI)$hmmm","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/63fe84ba080eca4491c9eab795137f38","width":"1080","height":"2429"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/850862517","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":493,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":865792023,"gmtCreate":1633016118669,"gmtModify":1633016119028,"author":{"id":"3583324925442360","authorId":"3583324925442360","name":"EsmeT","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2de5124e6af354a5501487b248f6a83b","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Peabody Energy Corp(BTU)$ should have bought ugh seen it since 4 ","listText":"$Peabody Energy Corp(BTU)$ should have bought ugh seen it since 4 ","text":"$Peabody Energy Corp(BTU)$ should have bought ugh seen it since 4","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b2ecf41bad16063dfc850ba853d67bfa","width":"1080","height":"3444"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/865792023","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
