It isn’t great news for the stock, but the reported delay amounts to weeks.Tesla (ticker: TSLA) stock was down 2.1% to $694.38 in Monday morning trading, dipped 1.10% for now.S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are both up roughly 0.6%.The German news outlet Automobilwoche, which is part of the Automotive News, reported Sunday that Tesla will need another six months to get its so-called gigafactory, which is now under construction in Berlin, up and running. Tesla dubs its new facilities gigafactories.Tesla has two auto-manufacturing plants, and two more on the way. The company’s original facility is in Fremont, Calif., and was purchased from General Motors (GM) more than a decade ago. Tesla’s Shanghai facility started production around the beginning of 2020, and recently started shipping a Chinese-built Model Y crossover vehicle.Tesla also has a gigafactory in Nevada that makes batteries. The two Tesla facilities under construction—apart from the one in Berlin, there’s one in Austin, Texas—had been set to start up later in 2021.“Both Texas and Berlin are progressing well, and we expect to have initial limited production from those factories this year and volume production from Texas and Berlin next year,” said Musk on the company’s April 26 earnings conference call. His comments were about a week prior to the Automotive News story. It looks as if limited German production might be moving from late 2021 into early 2022.The reasons for the delay aren’t immediately clear. Tesla didn’t respond to a request for comment about the German plant. There is a global semiconductor shortage that is constraining the production of cars and other products. There is also the potential for constraints on the battery-manufacturing side. Battery makers are trying to ramp up production to keep up with all the new EVs being launched. There are also reports regarding more scrutiny from German authorities about construction practices. But it isn’t clear what company is building the gigafactory. Tesla didn’t respond to a request for comment about construction oversight, either. In the end, bullish Tesla investors are used to Musk being overly optimistic about timelines and milestones. Bearish Tesla investors are used to the same. Its first-quarter results showed the company’s business continues to be buoyed by the pandemic, with sales soaring 44% year-over-year to $108.5 billion.\nAmazon’s guidance for the second quarter implies that it expects the momentum to continue, which should help allay investor fears that business could slow in a post-pandemic environment. The company expects to post revenue between $110 billion and $116 billion, surpassing Wall Street’s projection $108.6 billion.\nCrucially, Amazon confirmed in its guidance that this year’s Prime Day will take place in June, which will likely help year-over-year comparisons for revenue in the second quarter. Typically, Amazon’s annual, two-day discount bonanza takes place in July, but the company postponed the event to October last year amid pandemic-related uncertainty.\nWhen asked about the Prime Day timing, CFO Brian Olsavsky said on a call with investors: “In many areas, July is vacation month, so it might be better for customers, sellers and vendors to experiment with a different time period. We believe that it might be better timing later in [the second quarter], so that’s what we’re testing this year.”\nOutside of its core retail segment, Amazon’s cloud-computing and advertising businesses continue to boom. Amazon Web Servicessawnet sales of $13.5 billion during the quarter, up 32% year over year. Amazon doesn’t disclose advertising sales, but it’s included in the company’s “Other” category, which saw its revenues grow 77% year over year to $6.9 billion.\nAmazon CEO Jeff Bezos also gave a rare glimpse into how the company’s streaming business has fared during the pandemic, as stuck-at-home consumers relied on online entertainment to keep busy. “As Prime Video turns 10, over 175 million Prime members have streamed shows and movies in the past year, and streaming hours are up more than 70% year over year,” he said.\nAmazon’s streaming service, Prime Video, is a key offering of the company’s Prime subscription service, which costs $119 a year and includes a range of other benefits like free, two-day shipping. Bezos disclosed earlier this month that the company now has 200 million Prime subscribers, 50 million more than it had at the start of 2020.\nPhysical stores revenue, which includes Whole Foods Market and other brick-and-mortar offerings like Amazon Books, continued to fall. Sales slumped 16% to $3.9 billion. The category excludes online delivery, Olsavsky said.\nDuring the quarter, Amazon’s sales grew faster internationally than they did in North America. International revenue surged 60% year over year, more than any other segment, while North America revenue climbed 40%.\nAs expected, Amazon will incur fewer costs this year related to coronavirus safety measures. Operating income is forecast to be between $4.5 billion and $8 billion in the second quarter, assuming $1.5 billion of costs related to Covid-19. That’s in line with what Amazon executives predicted last quarter.\nAmazonsaidWednesday it would spend more than $1 billion on raising wages for over half a million of its U.S. operations workers. On a call with reporters, Olsavsky said it decided to move up the pay increase from the fall to this spring as volumes remain just as strong as they were at the beginning of the pandemic.\nOlsavsky declined to comment on Amazon’s CEO transition plans, which will come into play once Bezossteps down in the third quarter. It's why, even though we are enjoying a beautiful spring week, Goldman notes that single stock options trading activity is elevated relative to historical levels. If market makers or other options traders who delta-hedge their positions are net long ATM options, expiration-related flow could have the effect of dampening stock price movements, causing the stock price to settle near the strike with large open interest. Alternatively, if delta-hedgers are net short ATM options (have a “negative gamma” position), their hedging activity could exacerbate stock price moves.

What that means it expiration-related trades may cause trading activity to aggressively pick up for stocks with a significant amount of ATM open interest.

这意味着与到期相关的交易可能会导致拥有大量 ATM 未平仓合约的股票的交易活动大幅回升。

So to help traders looking to hop on for daytrading opportunities, here is a table identifying possible focus stocks with large ATM open interest expiring today, which is compared to the average daily volume of the underlying stocks. The big news was that Netflix expects to operate at cash-flow breakeven or better, and could eventually start buying back stock.\nThe company also said it shouldn’t ever have to tap the debt markets again to fund content production, putting the kibosh on the bearish argument that Netflix could never generate enough subscription revenue to fund its operations. And on Jan. 20, the day after Netflix (ticker: NFLX) reported fourth-quarter earnings, the stock set an intraday record at $593.29.\nBut it has been all downhill from there. Netflix saw a clear boost to its business from the pandemic, with most movie theaters, bars, and sporting events shuttered—it was the ultimate stay-at-home stock. Now with vaccination rates rising, investors are hunting for re-opening plays and taking profits on the 2020 winners. And there are concerns that Netflix could see slower growth and higher churn as consumers get off their couches and go outside.\nNetflix will report March quarter results on April 20. The company has projected $7.1 billion in revenue, earnings of $2.97 a share, and 6 million net new subscribers. Some investors worry that a combination of a growing array of subscription streaming video services and tough comparisons with 2020 will lead to some difficult quarters in 2021. We should get some new clues next week.\nNonetheless, some analysts are staying bullish on the company.\nOn Wednesday, Morgan Stanley analyst Benjamin Swinburne repeated his Overweight rating and $700 price target on Netflix shares. He notes that the stock sits about where it was in July 2020, with investors “bracing for the ultimate in tough Covid comps.” But Swinburne remains optimistic.
