Here were the main metrics from the report, compared to consensus data compiled by Bloomberg:Initial jobless claims, week ended March 13: 770,000 vs. 700,000 expected and an upwardly revised 725,000 during the prior week.Continuing claims, week ended March 6: 4.124 million vs. 4.034 million expected and 4.144 million during the prior week.Though initial unemployment claims held below 800,000 for a fourth consecutive week, they unexpectedly rose by 45,000, whereas consensus economists had anticipated new claims to fall to a fresh pandemic-era low of 700,000. Initial jobless claims remain well above the Great Recession-era high of 665,000 from 2009. And new claims still need to fall significantly further to return to 2019 levels, when new claims averaged just over 200,000 per week.Still, the generally downward trend in new jobless claims over the past several months has pointed to an economy on the upswing, even as temporary factors like harsh winter weather generated some noise in the recent data. Trends in new jobless claims are expected to improve further into the spring and summer as the vaccine rollout continues and COVID-19 case counts retreat further. Just last week, President Joe Biden announced that he would direct states to make all citizens eligible for vaccinations by May 1, rapidly expanding the potential for the country to achieve herd immunity in the near-term.\"We expect jobless claims to continue to improve as the latest wave of the virus subsides and restrictions are lifted,\" Deutsche Bank economist Brett Ryan wrote in a note. \"These data take on added significance as they correspond to the survey period for March employment, where we expect to see a notable pick up in hiring.\"While most states reported improvements in the number of new jobless claims last week, a handful of populous states posted notable increases. New weekly jobless claims rose by 21,000 in Texas on an unadjusted basis, while those in Illinois jumped by 17,000. Others saw new claims retreat after weeks of increases: Ohio, which has been contending with a recent stretch of fraud in claims filings, saw initial jobless claims fall by more than 14,000 last week.Continuing claims, which measure the total number of Americans still receiving state unemployment benefits, showed a ninth straight week of declines. These improvements have come both as a result of rehirings, and as individuals unemployed for more than six months rolled off regular state programs and onto longer-term federal unemployment benefits. As of late February, more than 18 million Americans were still claiming benefits across all programs — a level that remains historically elevated, but down significantly from the more than30 million claimants reported justseven months earlier. The most recent data showed that more than 12 million Americans were on either Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) — the federal program offering benefits to gig workers and the self-employed who do not qualify for other programs — or Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), which offers additional weeks of federal benefits to those who have exhausted their state benefits. Both the PUA and PEUC were extended from mid-March until Sept. 6, based on the latest $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package passed earlier this month.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"SPY":0.9,".IXIC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2686,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":361629191,"gmtCreate":1614230140413,"gmtModify":1631890851686,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Hai yo","listText":"Hai yo","text":"Hai yo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":8,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/361629191","repostId":"2114313681","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2436,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":369699176,"gmtCreate":1614037069195,"gmtModify":1631890851695,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Dropping soon?","listText":"Dropping soon?","text":"Dropping soon?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":5,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/369699176","repostId":"1100241886","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3022,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360459366,"gmtCreate":1613968448855,"gmtModify":1631890851706,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Will it go up? That’s because inflation expectations have spiked dramatically in recent weeks. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate — what the bond market currently is betting inflation will average over the next decade — is now higher than it’s been in five years.\nAs you can see from the accompanying chart, expected 10-year inflation stood at just 0.50% last March; this past week it got as high as 2.24%.\n\nIn truth, inflation is not the threat to the stock market that most investors believe. If inflation continues to heat up in coming months and investors react by dumping stocks, you might want to consider it as a buying opportunity.\nThese are the conclusions I reached after interviewing Richard Warr, a finance professor at North Carolina State University. Warr co-authored a seminal 2002 study in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis which found that equities actually are a good long-term hedge against inflation. His co-author was University of Florida finance professor Jay Ritter.\nWarr explained that stocks are a hedge because inflation impacts equity valuations in two ways which largely offset each other:\n\nHigher inflation means that future nominal earnings must be discounted at a higher rate when calculating their present value.\nCorporations are able to charge more when inflation is higher. Because of this greater pricing power, their nominal earnings in future years will be higher than they would have been otherwise.\n\nNotice the small net effect of these two factors: Nominal earnings will be higher but must be more heavily discounted. This isn’t just theory, by the way: Over the last 150 years, real (inflation-adjusted) growth rates for the S&P 500’sSPX,-0.19%earnings per share have remained relatively stable in the wake of changes in the inflation rate, while nominal EPS growth rates have tended to rise and fall in line with those changes.\nInvestors typically focus on just the first of these two consequences of inflation, Warr said. That is, they (at least implicitly) realize that inflation reduces the value of future nominal earnings, but overlook that those nominal earnings will themselves be higher. This lopsided view is due to a trait that economists call “inflation illusion.”\nThis illusion works to be the benefit of stocks when inflation is declining. When that is the case, investors extrapolate into the future the artificially high nominal earnings growth of earlier higher-inflation periods. The result is unreasonably high valuations.\nWhen inflation begins to rise, in contrast, investors make just the opposite mistake: They extrapolate into the future the lower earnings growth firms produced during the previously low-inflation period. This leads them to conclude that equity valuations must come down as inflation heats up.\nRational versus behavioral models of investor behavior\nNotice that two distinct models of investor behavior are needed to explain the market’s reaction to higher inflation. The rational model shows that inflation should have little net impact on equity valuations, while the behavioral model predicts that investors will nevertheless behave irrationally.\nMight investors have learned from their past irrationality, and therefore not dump stocks if inflation heats up even more in coming months? Warr said that, while anything is possible, he wouldn’t bet on it. “Most current investors have lived most of their lives in a low-inflation environment, so they have had no opportunity to learn the lessons that history teaches us about inflation and the stock market.”\nIf Warr is right, then rational investors in coming months will have an opportunity to pick up stocks at lower valuations.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2313,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360693751,"gmtCreate":1613896903773,"gmtModify":1634551915544,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Ya lor ","listText":"Ya lor ","text":"Ya lor","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360693751","repostId":"360699724","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":360699724,"gmtCreate":1613896735068,"gmtModify":1634551916258,"author":{"id":"3572499390850492","authorId":"3572499390850492","name":"TTJLeong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572499390850492","authorIdStr":"3572499390850492"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Good weekend","listText":"Good weekend","text":"Good weekend","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360699724","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":0,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":811,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360693002,"gmtCreate":1613896747306,"gmtModify":1634551916137,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"oh","listText":"oh","text":"oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":6,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360693002","repostId":"1143100356","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":911,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":387797849,"gmtCreate":1613784303881,"gmtModify":1634552255789,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Wah","listText":"Wah","text":"Wah","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/387797849","repostId":"2112149478","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":673,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":387078103,"gmtCreate":1613704268002,"gmtModify":1634552579712,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/387078103","repostId":"1107899645","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1107899645","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1613704060,"share":"https://www.laohunote.com/m/news/1107899645?lang=zh_CN&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-02-19 11:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir stock slumps as lockup expiration opens 80% of shares for trading
","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1107899645","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"Palantir Technologies Inc. This is thanks to a $1.5 billion investment into the cryptocurrency from electric vehicle titan Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA). It is one of the latest large tech companies to not only invest in but eventually start acceptingBitcoinas payment. In fact, there have even been speculations of Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) being well-positioned to join the cryptocurrency craze as well. How does this connect to fintech stocks?

Well, to begin with, fintech companies are the bridge that allows most of the general public access to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Alternatively, they are also key players in this current age of digital finance. Whatever way you cut it, the fintech industry is becoming more essential and is here to stay for the long run. Meanwhile, more conventional top fintech stocks like Mastercard (NYSE: MA) and American Express (NYSE: AXP) have mostly seen their shares recover to pre-pandemic levels. Therefore, investors would be logical in looking for thebest fintech stocks now. Having read till this point, you might be interested in investing in this industry yourself. If you are, here are four fintech stocks to consider now.

Top Fintech Stocks To Watch

Mogo Inc.(NASDAQ: MOGO)

PayPal Holdings Inc.(NASDAQ: PYPL)

Square Inc.(NYSE: SQ)

Green Dot Corporation(NYSE: GDOT)

Mogo Inc.

Starting us off is Canadian fintech company Mogo. It offers a wide range of financial services ranging from personal loans, mortgages, a Visa Prepaid Card, and credit score viewing. More importantly, the company also facilitates Bitcoin transactions. This particular service has exploded together with the price of the cryptocurrency over the last month. Mogo saw massive month-over-month jumps of 141% in new Bitcoin accounts added and 323% in Bitcoin transaction volume in January. Likewise, MOGO stock is currently up by over 160% year-to-date. Aside from Bitcoin-related tailwinds, the company has also been hard at work expanding its financial portfolio.

For starters, Mogo acquired leading digital payments solutions provider Carta Worldwide, over two weeks ago. This move expanded Mogo’s addressable market by entering the global $2.5 trillion payments market. Following that, the company expanded into Japan last week via Carta. According to Mogo, this move was in support of the TransferWise multi-currency debit card launch in the country. With this move, Mogo continues to expand its market reach globally and seems eager to make the most of its newly acquired subsidiary. Just like our other entries on this list, the company does facilitate cryptocurrency transactions for its clients. Last week, PayPal reported record figures across the board. For its fourth quarter, the company saw a total payment volume (TPV) of $277 billion, a 39% increase year-over-year. Furthermore, the company’s earnings per share more than tripled over the same time as well. In detail, TPVs across its merchant services and Venmo app grew by 42% and 60% respectively. With PayPal riding both Bitcoin and pandemic tailwinds, PYPL stock continues to soar to greater heights. It has gained by over 230% since the March lows and closed yesterday at a record high. Investors may be wondering if it still has room to run moving forward.

For one thing, the company does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Yesterday, it announced a new collaboration with global commerce solutions provider Digital River (DR). To summarize, PayPal now has a new ‘pay later’ option available to U.S. clients on DR’s e-commerce platform. The “Pay in 4” feature will allow customers to pay for items priced from $30 to $600 across four interest-free payments. Simultaneously, merchants get paid upfront at no additional cost to the customer. As PayPal continues to make waves in the fintech space, could PYPL stock continue to flourish this year? You tell me.

Square Inc.

Another top fintech company on the radar now would be Square. Aside from its Bitcoin-related services, the leading fintech player does bring a lot to the table. Whether it is financial solutions, merchant services, or mobile payment, Square’s offerings compete with the best in the field. For the uninitiated, the company markets software and hardware payments products to businesses of all sizes. At the same time, its consumer-focused digital payment ecosystem, Cash App, has also seen mind-blowing growth in the past year. Square reported having 30 million monthly active users on the app which generated over $2 billion in revenue in its recent quarter. Seasoned investors would be familiar with the meteoric rise of the company. Indeed, SQ stock has and continues to impress with gains of over 200% in the past year. As it stands, Green Dot is the world’s largest prepaid debit card company by market capitalization. The company also boasts an impressive list of clients, to say the least. Its fintech partners include but are not limited to, Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Uber (NYSE: UBER), and Walmart (NYSE: WMT). Last month, the company launched a new mobile bank focused on addressing the two in three Americans “living from paycheck to paycheck”. Through this, Green Dot is leveraging its rich industry experience to provide affordable banking solutions for clients in need. In the long run, this could play out well for Green Dot as it engages consumers amidst these troubling times. Moreover, the company appointed a new CTO in Gyorgy Tomso last week. CEO Dan Henry said, “Gyorgy is a fintech veteran whose deep experience leading technology strategy for financial services companies is going to be instrumental in Green Dot’s growth as a leading fintech.” Has all this convinced you to add GDOT to your watchlist?

","source":"lsy1603171495471","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Best Stocks To Buy For 2021? 4 Fintech Stocks To Watch

\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBest Stocks To Buy For 2021? 4 Fintech Stocks To Watch
\n
\n
\n
\nNasdaq2021-02-11 14:17\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
If you’re caught up on the latestBitcoin news, you likely know thatfintech stocksare in the hot seat right now. How does this connect to fintech stocks?\nWell, to begin with, fintech companies are the bridge that allows most of the general public access to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. If you are, here are four fintech stocks to consider now.\nTop Fintech Stocks To Watch\n\nMogo Inc.(NASDAQ: MOGO)\nPayPal Holdings Inc.(NASDAQ: PYPL)\nSquare Inc.(NYSE: SQ)\nGreen Dot Corporation(NYSE: GDOT)\n\nMogo Inc.\nStarting us off is Canadian fintech company Mogo. Aside from Bitcoin-related tailwinds, the company has also been hard at work expanding its financial portfolio.\nFor starters, Mogo acquired leading digital payments solutions provider Carta Worldwide, over two weeks ago. With the company firing on all cylinders now, will you be watching MOGO stock?\nPayPal Holdings Inc.\nFollowing that, we will be looking at fintech giant, PayPal. Investors may be wondering if it still has room to run moving forward.\nFor one thing, the company does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. You tell me.\nSquare Inc.\nAnother top fintech company on the radar now would be Square. With the current focus on fintech, could investors continue to find more value in SQ stock?\nWell, it has been posting phenomenal figures on the business side of things. In its third-quarter fiscal reported in November, it saw a year-over-year surge of 139% in total revenue and 246% in cash on hand. Specifically, Cash App’s gross profit skyrocketed by 212% year-over-year. All things considered, will you be watching SQ stock ahead of Square’s upcomingearnings callon February 23?\nGreen Dot Corporation\nUndoubtedly, Green Dot is a fintech industry-veteran that should not be overlooked. Equally impressive is GDOT stock’s growth of over 220% since the March selloffs. With Green Dot slated to release its fourth-quarter earnings on February 22, I can see investors watching GDOT stock closely.\nFor the most part, the company has been hard at work maintaining its current momentum. Because of this greater pricing power, their nominal earnings in future years will be higher than they would have been otherwise.

Notice the small net effect of these two factors: Nominal earnings will be higher but must be more heavily discounted. This isn’t just theory, by the way: Over the last 150 years, real (inflation-adjusted) growth rates for the S&P 500’sSPX,-0.19%earnings per share have remained relatively stable in the wake of changes in the inflation rate, while nominal EPS growth rates have tended to rise and fall in line with those changes.

Investors typically focus on just the first of these two consequences of inflation, Warr said. That is, they (at least implicitly) realize that inflation reduces the value of future nominal earnings, but overlook that those nominal earnings will themselves be higher. This lopsided view is due to a trait that economists call “inflation illusion.”

This illusion works to be the benefit of stocks when inflation is declining. “Most current investors have lived most of their lives in a low-inflation environment, so they have had no opportunity to learn the lessons that history teaches us about inflation and the stock market.”\nIf Warr is right, then rational investors in coming months will have an opportunity to pick up stocks at lower valuations.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2313,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":317797473,"gmtCreate":1612483964492,"gmtModify":1703762482579,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Ya drink NEWater liao","listText":"Ya drink NEWater liao","text":"Ya drink NEWater liao","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/317797473","repostId":"2108716497","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":590,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360484811,"gmtCreate":1613965919033,"gmtModify":1631890851718,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Wha","listText":"Wha","text":"Wha","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360484811","repostId":"1176686506","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2255,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":387078103,"gmtCreate":1613704268002,"gmtModify":1634552579712,"author":{"id":"3572125033182972","authorId":"3572125033182972","name":"GaryGui","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572125033182972","authorIdStr":"3572125033182972"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/387078103","repostId":"1107899645","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1107899645","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1613704060,"share":"https://www.laohunote.com/m/news/1107899645?lang=zh_CN&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-02-19 11:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir stock slumps as lockup expiration opens 80% of shares for trading
","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1107899645","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"Palantir Technologies Inc.
