Micron Technology share is up about 8% on the last trading day for this week. It was announced that MediaTek Inc. has validated Micron’s low-power double data rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM for MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9000 5G flagship chipset for smartphones. Micron is the first semiconductor company to be sample and validate this fastest, most advanced mobile memory in the industry and has shipped the first batch of samples of LPDDR5X built on its first-to-market 1α (1-alpha) node. Designed for high-end and flagship smartphones, Micron’s LPDDR5X allows the smartphone ecosystem to unlock the next wave of data-intensive applications powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G innovation.
This really positive news. More application needs for memory chips.
Finally, it heading for the U turn. Chip demand remain strong. Micron as announced, will be adopting EUV, which also means their next technology node is according to plan and on track. Started distributing dividends lately, which is a new for Micron. It implies that the cash flow is very healthy. Beside injecting cash to research and Development, it was able to give out a small dividend. EUV adoption may seem like a late adoption in Micron. But looking from another angle, Micron is able to deliver leading edge technology without EUV. That show the team is highly innovative. And cost of manufacturing is also lower without EUV. With the EUV technology now more established, it good time for Micron to jump in. Overall, I am very confident on Micron. Staying vested. And will add more to my position. China manufacturer was always deem as a competition to Micron. Personally, I think Semiconductor is a very high cost entry business. We know China government is pumping in money. But it will take a long time to catch up, not to mention about leading. And leading equipment supplier are not providing China with the technology. Although China has been aquiring semicon talent all over the world. But its an uphill. However, we all know what China is capable of. Nothing is impossible.@Tiger Stars
