I think some analysts estimating $85 billion for this quarter is overkill. Apple is being set up to fail basically if it underreports. If you check back last year this same time during October 2020, the revenue was $65 billion give or take but that was before the iphone 12 came out. $85 billion would be possible in a perfect world where we didn't have supply constraints or issues...and these high estimates are completely ignoring what's happening.
Apple has had a history of beating its own estimates in the past, I agree, but let's remember for a moment, no guidance was provided for this quarter. Tim or Luca even mentioned some possible supply constraints last quarter. So how can it be reasonable that some analysts expect an extra $20 billion in revenue year over year? That's a 30% increase which is insane. I'm in this for the long haul and won't trade earnings but these expectations are quite ridiculous. $Apple(AAPL)$
