What is current ratio?

The current ratio is a liquidity ratio that measures a company's ability to pay short-term obligations or those due within one year. It tells investors and analysts how a company can maximize the current assets on its balance sheet to satisfy its current debt and other payables.

In general, a good current ratio is anything over 1, with 1.5 to 2 being the ideal. If this is the case, the company has more than enough cash to meet its liabilities while using its capital effectively

A company with a current ratio of between 1.5 and 2 is typically considered good. The higher the current ratio, the more liquid a company is. However, if the current ratio is too high (i.e. above 2), it might be that the company is unable to use its current assets efficiently.
