Apple (AAPL) plans to launch five new iPhone models to gain market share despite a memory shortage that is driving up prices for consumers, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Among the plans are about 10 million foldable iPhones this year, up from a previous projection of 7 million to 8 million, as well as a total of 80 million new models for H2 2026 of the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max, the report said.
Apple has informed suppliers of plans to reserve parts for the upcoming iPhone 18 premium series, the report said.
Apple also plans to unveil at least two new iPhones in H1 2027 including a standard iPhone 18 and a new iPhone Air, the report said.
Apple did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
