Faraday Future (FFAI) said Thursday the US Patent and Trademark Office granted its unit a patent for a range-extending hybrid transmission system.
The design separates the engine, generator and drive wheels to allow multiple power sources to operate independently, the company said.
The company plans to integrate the technology into its upcoming vehicle models to improve powertrain efficiency in cold weather environments, Faraday Future said.
Faraday Future also said it expects initial deliveries of its battery electric vehicle to begin within 6 to 9 months if it has sufficient funding.
Shares of the company were up over 1% in Friday premarket activity.
